It depends on the traveler. Preparation helps pass the time better than anything. Take along a book, needlework, a list of phone calls to make, a book of crossword puzzles, paper and stamps for letter writing, or a blank journal in which to start making notes for your novel. Larger airports have interesting shopping. People watching is outstanding.

You can make a long layover go fast by planning your time. You can plan to take a walk, phone a friend, or balance your checkbook. Making good use of the time you have is the key.

Long layovers are the travelers bain. The only way to make them seem to go fast is to get very high on your drug of choice or get lucky with the cute truck stop waitress.

They do if you bring the right entertainment items like a good book, a DVD player or computer and cards - especially if you are traveling with other people. The key is to eat a small meal and don't get yourself stressed.
