Yes it could, but often the first check is simply to make sure your battery is charging and holding a charge. Then you can have the charging system tested.
Motorcycle batteries, like cars, run on Direct Current. This is different than the electrical current in your house, which is Alternating Current. Rectifiers change D/C to A/C, or vice-versa. Because of the difference between the two, motorcycles only need a steady supply of D/C. Motorcycles are not equipped with rectifiers.
