Can otibiotic ointment be used for hot spots?

OTI- means "eye." Otibiotic ointment is for the eyes. If your pet has a hot spot, take it to the veterinarian. NEVER treat an animal with a drug not specifically prescribed for that animal for that ailment.

"Otic" actually means EAR...look it up. Otibiotic is specifically formulated for the treatment of acute and chronic otitis in canines - simply put - yeast in the ear canal that causes an infection. Please call your veterinarian before you apply anything unfamiliar to your pet.  add a comment

Yes, something like Neosporin can be used for that if only for the relief and antibiotic and soothing of the irratation. Try some cortisone spray or ointment though for a better result, this will treat the allergy that is causing the hot spot on the skin and may make it go away, otherwise visit a vet.
