Since you know how to treat the hot spots, you are trying to figure out how to get rid of them. You need to find out what is causing your dog to each. Common ones are grooming issues, skin conditions and fleas, or just bored itching.

The veterinarian will prescribe a steroid cream and an oral steroid to take care of the hotspot. My Lab got them all the time, too. Follow the medication instructions to the letter to clear up the matter once and for all. Hot spots make dogs just miserable.

Spring and summer are the worst seasons for hot spots. During this time, one simple thing to do is take your dog to the vet or groomer and have them clipped. If you do notice hot spots forming, go to your vet and ask for an antibiotic spray to help get rid of the infection in the hot spot.

They sell many hot spot sprays at pet stores, this stuff works very well in alleviating hot spots. Hot spots can cause itching as well, which will in turn cause a larger affected area, stop your pet from bothering the hot spots and keep the spray on the dog at all times
