Your best bet is buying a repair manual for your year of car and that will tell you every thing you need to know to fix it up. I'm doing a complete repair and rebuild right now and the book tells me step by step procedures on how to do everything. Try "Haynes" books

It depends on what the repair is and how much experience and tools that you have. If you can find a repair guide then i would reccomend getting one the hayes repair guide is 20 dollars and will tell you how to do the repairs and what tools you need.

It ultimately depends on what kind of a repair you need for your Jetta. If you are doing brakes you can do it yourself but if you are doing a complete motor swap you will probably need a mechanic. If you tell me what you need fixed I can tell you how to do it.

i don't think you are a mechanic so no , you shouldn't do it , but you will go with the car at a service
