Can anything be done about the problem of intermittent lip sync on my TV?

Probably not, the problem probably does not have a root in your television itself. The issue is most likely coming from wherever the show is being broadcast from. Whether it's your cable or satellite provider. Check with them first and see what they can do to cut down this lag.

The problem is most likely not with your TV but with your cable or dish provider. I have cable service and that happens to me sometimes, you need to get the lines into your house checked and the levels for the signal going into the house. That should fix the problem.

Re: sync audio and video being out of sync on any device, you may first pause the device where possible, or restart your device, this INCLUDES your TV. This can generally fix most sync issues. If this fails to fix the problem, you may have to call a tech.

Of course. If your audio is off time with video, consult your tv manufacturer. Whomever you talk to is going to give you sage advice.

"Intermittent lip sync" is usually because the digital signal feeding your cable/converter/satellite box has a signal-quality/strength issue; the box then reverts to a back-up/error-correction signal stream which is not in-sync with the original feed stream. The solution is either: Getting a better satellite/television antenna, or aiming the antenna better; or Using better-quality cabling, or Installing an in-line signal strength amplifier.

Lip sync issues can be caused by different types of cables handling audio and video (if you are using a receiver, for example). Using an all-in-one cable like HDMI can help. You may also configure a specific lag for your TV or receiver. Some broadcasts (e.g. non-HD and local broadcasts) will be broadcast out of sync on an HD channel.

Check your cables that bring the input to your tv. Try known working cables. If not you may want to contact your cable provider, it's likely on their end.

Not being technically inclined, I don't know how to maintain voice and lip "togetherness." However, I correct this annoying situation by rapidly pressing the "play" button 2-3 times, slight pause, then press again, once. This usually corrects the problem immediately. If at once, you don't succeed, H-E-Y! You know that olde adage... .

Yes, it can be done. This probably means that you purchased a t.v. that lacks audio quality. You may want to ask for repair or replacement as soon as possible.

The lip sync is correct when it leaves the cable network. The problem is the digital television or the converter box in your house is not capable of interpreting the magnitude of information fast enough to keep the keep the lip sync correct on your home television. It tries but it not quick enough.

Cheaper models save money by using slow de-interlacing/scaling processors. They have to buffer more data, and as such the video signal is delayed to an unreasonable extent. Find some sort of hardware thingy that you can run your audio through to delay the signal so that you can align it with the delayed video.

Yes but sometimes it's OK. Would I not be forever fiddling?  add a comment
