A swollen snout may be caused by an allergic reaction to an animal or insect bite or sting. Other possibilities might be due to a tooth abcess or infection or possibly even a tumor. Swelling can also be caused by a reaction to certain types of food, chemicals, or allergens.

It can. Allergic reactions in dogs can have many different symptoms, including swelling of different body parts. If you take your dog to a vet they can give a steroid which will help the swelling go down. A swollen snout can cause serious problems so it's important to take your dog to a vet to get treatment.

Before someone starts a dog on steriods, it's probably best to try an anti-histamine like Benadryl if the diagnosis is allergic reaction. Steriods should be used sparingly with dogs as with humans.  add a comment

Dog snouts can swell do to allergic reactions cause by bee stings, grass allergies, and even certain foods. The swelling can be very annoying to the dog, but can be easily treated by a vet.
