The Bible is replete with examples of less than fully functional families. Take the family of King David for example, which included something like two thousand wives and concubines which by it's very nature could not have helped but be massively disfunctional. How complicated the interpersonal dynamics must have been.

Most families of the bible are dysfunctional. Adam and Eve's sons fought, and Cain killed Abel. Noah's daughters got him drunk and slept with him. Abraham slept with the servant girl so he could have a son, at his wife's request. Moses was abandoned at birth and raised by the Pharaoh. We are all human, their stories help us relate.
