Are bats mammals?

My cousin and I are having an argument about this.

Yes, they are considered mammals. They have the typical characteristics. They have fur and are warm blooded. They birth live young and have mammary glands. They are also the only mammal that can properly fly (not just gliding).

Mammals have a few simple defining characteristics: 'Warm blood' (They produce their own body heat), Fur, live young and produce milk. Bats have or do all of these. Bats are defiantly mammals. If you want to argue if something is a mammal, look at the platypus.
