It would depend on several things. The first thing would be how detailed is the diagram. It also depends on the tools required for the repair. Finally it depends on skill level required for the repair. If it requires someone with extensive knowledge in electronics with specialized tools using a vague diagram, then I would be unable to do repairs.

A wiring diagram helps, but unless you know how to read it your in the same boat as everyone else who looks at it.

Rewiring a stereo with a new one is very easy to do as long as you have the correct parts for fitment. You can buy a basic wiring harness for around $10 that will fit your specific vehicle. It usually is not worth it to try and fix your stock stereo.
