Question by  YAS (15)

Will the patent office close when there is nothing left to invent?

I am curious to if there will always be a need for a patent office.

Of course, but that will never happen. Every day someone comes up with something that is better than before. A simple improvement can cause millions in savings, so innovation clearly works. There was a time when there was a wonderful land based telephone system. Now we have cell phones. Down the road, we may use minds to transmit calls.

No, innovation will always be present, there is always something new to invent and there are many people with an abundance of ideas.

I think so, but it will be a ways down the road. Plus, there are things being patented that are already invented that the Patent Office just doesn't check well enough for prior art.
