just don't drink through a straw after you've lost a tooth because it can turn into dry socket. If you get dry socket you have to get needles injected with medicine shot into the dry socket and NOBODY wants that EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drinking through a straw, as well as cigarette smoking, is associated with a significantly higher risk of dry socket in the first few days after a tooth extraction. You may not, but you are much more likely to get it. Is it worth the risk?

Drinking out of a straw can cause a dry socket. When you drink out of a straw the sucking action can dislodge the forming clot. Dislodging the clot is what causes a dry socket. So never drink out of a straw after a extraction.

It is very possible. You create a suction in your mouth when you use a straw. It can dislodge the blood clot that has formed where the tooth was extracted. If you loose the blood clot, you have exposed bone and can have dry socket. Dry socket is very painful.

If you have just had a tooth extracted, you very well may. Most dentists advise against using a straw for this reason.
