Likely you will be given a local anesthesia, that will allow you to sleep peacefully during the surgery. Most doctors don't perform surgery without anesthesia unless there is a specific medical reason that requires the use of numbing type of agent, but that is highly unlikely.

Anesthesia is required for any surgery. Some surgeries use only a local anesthetic, which numbs the area but leaves you awake. However, for almost any surgery involving a bone or joint, a general anesthetic, which puts you to sleep for the procedure, is required.

Yes, you will be given a anesthetic for ankle surgery. Depending on the surgery you will be under for two to three hours.

You will be given anesthetic for any form of surgery. It would be too painful and not possible to perform without an anesthetic.
