Will anyone ever invent a time machine?

At this time, no one is known to have figured out a way to travel across even short periods of time, so a time machine probably won't be happening any time soon. Science is advancing all the time, though, so you never know what future technologies will bring to the world.

A machine that travels backward cannot alter the current time line. If it travels back in time but goes to a parallel universe, this does not actually alter time in the current timeline. Travel far to the future is possible. So travel forward or sideways but not backward is possible.
