Will acupuncture help to heal a herniated disc that was shown on an x-ray?

I really want to avoid having surgery on my back and was told to try acupuncture.

Acupuncture may relieve and help someone manage the pain of a herniated disc but it will not do anything for the actual structural problem. It treats the symptoms of the problem, one of which is pain.

The herniated disc is a structural problem, and acupuncture is an energy-based form of treatment. The needles stimulate and clear the body's "chi meridians" – energy points and pathways. Acupuncture helps with pain and inflammation, but may not cure this without some physical treatment such as manipulation therapy (not surgery).

Acupuncture can be an effective tool to heal and reduce pain caused by a herniated disc. Results will vary with severity of herniation and how soon acupunture is applied after diagnosis.

Acupuncture can relieve the pain that is caused through the herniated disc, however if you are looking for a permanent fix then you should consider getting the surgery. Since you can save time and money from the acupuncture treatments.

the only way to fix a decompressed disc or fallen disc is the needle inserted with a ballon in to the area to separte the discs..

It won't exactly heal a herniated disc but it will relieve some of the pressure and discomfort you're probably having with it. It will also help with some of the pain. Good luck to you, hope you're better soon.
