No, that will not keep your floors clean. If it is a floor then it will never stay clean without cleaning unless it is suppose to be dirty (dirt floor).

A couple of coats of sealer would not only keep dirt from becoming embedded in the tile, but it will prevent any potential water damage.

Yes, it will. Sealer works magic in many ways. Therefore, it will be great to get the floor to be gazed. So it will be in your best benefit to use the sealer. You can also just glaze it with some paint. That keeps it from getting messy. So it may be a better option.
