Glycerin can be used for general styling purposes. It can also be used for styling that will hold in damp or wet conditions. As well, it can be used for styles that require a "wet" look.

Glycerin is used to moisturize and condition very dry hair and also to moisturize dry scalp. If used properly, glycerin can soften hair and enhance shine. If too much glycerin is used, however, it can have a dulling, frizzing effect. Glycerin must be mixed with water before applying to hair (approximately 30% glycerin to 70% water).

I would use glycerin for my hair to moisturize. Glycerin has a moisturizing agent and can help with dry or damaged hair.

Glycerin is a viscous liquid, often soluble in water. It is known to be a humectant, which is great for keeping dry hair moisturized.

Glycerin provides a rather intense sheen to hair and can also increase the moisture in your hair if it is dry. People with greasy hair should stay away from shampoos containing glycerin because it will just make their hair worse.
