Why would someone take a fluconazole tablet? What's that for?

Fluconazole is most commonly prescribed to treat yeast infections. It has other beneficial uses in treating candidiasis in the mouth or digestive tract. Occasionally people who are on long term antibiotic prescriptions can develop oral or gastrointestinal candidiasis, and fluconazole is beneficial in resolving these. Finally, it has proven effective in meningitis if it has been caused by a fungus.

Fluconazole is an anti-fungal medication. A person would take it to try to get rid of a fungal infection of some sort. It is commonly used for yeast infections, which can be found in several different parts of the body. Sometimes, is is used to prevent fungal infections as well as treat them.
