Sometimes it just happens. Things like stress can trigger an early period or even make it late. If your period continues to be irregular make sure you consult your doctor.

Women's periods can often be inexact; having it occur a week early is no real cause for concern. It could be caused by a temporary hormonal imbalance, which will correct itself. Also, women's periods get less regular as they get older, before stopping entirely in menopause.
