There can be multiple reasons. Your provider might not allow you to text to phones of another provider, you might not have good signal where you are trying to send your message, or maybe you are trying to send it to a non-existent or wrong number.

The person that unlocked your phone messed up the software in your phone. You have to take your phone to a technician that can re-format your phone's software. Be sure to back-up all your contacts and info before re-formatting. I recommend taking your phone to the Original company's technical service. Phone guaranty does not cover this issue.

if your phone will not send a text at all you need to contact your service provider and/or check the settings on your phone. most likely there is an issue with your settings in your phone or on your account. try to soft reset and hard reset it then call your service provider.

It may be possilbe that your phone does not have a texting plan on your contract. If that is the case call yor phone company and have it added.

It is possible that something happened while the phone was being unlocked that is preventing the text service from working properly. If you can reset the phone to factory settings, and see if that helps. If not contact whoever unlocked your phone and see if they have any to say that helps.

The best thing you can do about that is call your provider. That could very well indicate a problem with your phone that only they can fix. Otherwise if you do some research you can see what you can find online about it.

This is service called SMS (Short Message Service). On your SIM card has stored Message Center number, if you have used other network before you must change that number.

No, if you unlock your phone, it will make phone calls as well as text messages. You have to jail break it.
