Why is the engine light flashing in my car?

As always, check fuses. Next verify you are up to date on your tune ups. You may also use a code reader to determine why the system is doing this. Another scenerio may be that there is a minor malfunction and the system may need to be reset in order for the display to stop flashing.

My engine light was flashing do to Emission and Ignition circumstances.. The solution involved changing the Air Filter and Spark Plugs.. Boom!!!.. Problem Solved..

It means there is an engine problem. Some cars do this to signal a misfire or other serious engine problem. Sometimes the light blinks out the trouble code of the engine.

when the engine light is flashing it means the engine needs service or there is a problem with the one of the sensors in the engine or exhaust system. You need to get it hooked up to a computer at a mechanic to see exactly what the code is and fix the problem

I'm not sure what might cause the light to blink, but the engine control module might be kicking up an intermittent code. Take the car to a shop and have it scanned, they'll tell you exactly what's wrong.

If the engine light flashes but doesn't stay on while going down the road, it usually means there is an intermittent problem like a misfire. Have the trouble codes read.

Take your car to a car parts store. Many of them will run diagnostic on your car for free to see what system is triggering the check engine light.
