A motorcycle typically backfires as a result of a lean fuel-air ratio. A lean condition can be caused by restricted fuel flow or increased air flow.

A bike will backfire for the same reasons as a car. Check your timing to make sure it is firing correctly and make sure when it does fire you have a good solid spark.
