Why is my goldfish struggling to swim?

Your goldfish could either be sick or dying. Goldfish usually don't live terribly long when they're not cared for properly. If the fish can't swim it probably won't live very much longer because fish need to swim to survive.

This is probably an issue with the water, water temp, or nutrition. You need to check with your local pet store fish guru or get good information from a book or the internet. I am betting it's a feeding problem. It could be a problem with his swim bladder but it really isn't something you can take to the vet.

Some goldfish look to be struggling to swim because of they awkward body shape depending on what type they are. Another reason could be that it is sick, or injured. Try to see if there is anything wrong with any of its fins.

Your goldfgish could have an injured fin. in this case, he will not swim right. it could take a week to heal or may never heal.
