Why is my dove having a hard time breathing?

The dove may have a disease affecting the breathing tract or throat such as aspergillosis or psittacosis. These diseases affect the airways of birds and are common where birds have been exposed to dusty or mouldy environment. The only way to treat these infections is with medications available from a professional veterinarian.

If your dove is having difficulty breathing, a humidifier may help. Keep it warm, but not overly warm. If the problem doesn't go away it may need an antibiotic from the vet.
