Why is my dog yelping?

My dog has been yelping from pain every so often, and I cannot figure out what is hurting him. His other activities have seemed normal. He has not gotten into anything bad that I know of, and his bowel movements have been normal. Sometimes he seems 100%, then all of the sudden when I go to pet him, he yelps like he would if someone stepped on his foot.

Dogs yelp for a variety of reasons, the two most likely ones are pain and surprise. If your dog is not aware that you are near and about to touch him, he is probably yelping in surprise. This can be a sign of vision or hearing loss, and should be checked by a veterinarian.

This can occasionally be a sign of mild seizures or arthritis.Take him to your veterinarian for a check-up.If he's fine, you will have paid under $50 for peace of mind.
