Why is my border collie mounting other females?

She is a female. I can't figure her out.

Female dogs will often mount and hump other dogs as a display of dominance. My aunts dog, a lhasa apso, does this quite often, and it is not a problem. I wouldn't worry about it. If she starts trying to mount you or other people, you should try and gently discipline her, as she is now trying to dominate you.

Mounting in dogs isn't just a sexual behavior. It is also a display of dominance and can also be an expression of play. Oftentimes when dogs are playing and are excited they might start mounting each other. When a dog wants to show that they are dominant over another they might also mount it.

Dogs mount each other as a display of dominance, not just for mating. This is also the reason why neutered males still mount other dogs. Your dog is simply trying to show other females that she is the Alpha dog.
