it is possible that the timing could be off. also, the plug wire and the plug may be shorting out. check flywheel key to see if it is loose or sheared.

Your car is backfiring because you are driving backwards too much and it doesn't like it or isn't used to it and thinks you drive more in reverse rather than drive. To fix this then you should probably stop using reverse and just use neutral. If you need to reverse up a hill then just get out and push it.

Take some dry gas and put in your car, most times backfires are caused by a little water getting into fuel filteer or injectors from condensation in gas tank.

Back firing may be a result of many things. You may need a tune up, engine internals could be worn, dirty fuel system, or you may have a lean mixture.

Not knowing the model of car or the engine service history then it is very hard to say for sure. In most cases backfiring is either caused by a timing issue or by an over rich condition. Make sure your engine is correctly timed and give it a good tune up making sure to pay attention to the plug gaps.

You need to adjust ignition timing with a timing light, set it between 16-18 degrees BTDC. Guessing will only cause problems. Check the MAP sensor and TPS sensor and make sure you don't have the plugs reversed. The connectors are the same. Are you throwing any CEL's ?

Backfiring for almost any car is caused by nearly the same factors. These factors are as follows: a lot of excess fuel having been built up in the exhaust system, late ignition timing, a choke that is not operating properly, malfunctioning distributor cap, bad spark plugs, etc..

Probably just because it's getting old. The exhaust isn't what it used to be, or the engine is starting to gunk up. It's typical, i wouldn't worry to much about it.

That is because in engine is lack of air and to many gas in 'compression place'.. You should check filters for air, for some reason engine doesn't get enough air and it's getting to many gas. Fix it, or it will get worst. Sorry for bad English
