Why is it that when I fill my car with gas, it doesnt run right til I get a mile down the road?

It can be a number of problems, from bad fuel injectors to a failing gas pump. Most likely, however, you are either overfilling the tank and getting some vapor lock, or you have a buildup of crud at the bottom of the tank/old gas, and it doesn't run right till that's out of the system. Buy some fuel cleaner additive.

did you let it run until empty? If so, the pump is having to refill all the gas lines and remove the air that is trapped inside
