Why is it that automatic formatting doesn't apply in the calendar?

This is because the calander is constantly updated and the automatic formatting isn't. If the calander was the same every year the automatic formating would work fine, but it changes every years so it doesn't.

If you are speaking about computer program calendars, automatically formatting doesn't applying either because they in seperate parts of the program or because given the range of inputs that could change because specific requirements were autoformatted.
