Why is a higher temperature required to form magma at the oceanic ridges?

The ocean gets colder as one moves deeper, the pressure also gets higher as depth increases, and since magma is a liquid, the temperature must exceed the limiting pressure and temperature. As pressure increases, in order to become a liquid, the temperature needs to increase.
