Your Gladiolus not coming up may be suffering from a myriad of issues. If left in over winter, the bulbs may not have been hardy enough to survive the cold.

There are a number of reasons why. First do you have the bulbs in soil that is too packed down? If so loosen it up. They need to be in appropriate lighting and have the ideal humidity of about 50%? Are they in the right season?

your plants may not be gettin enough water. They should be cover with two or three inches of mulch to keep them moist. Should be watered if your area dont get rain every week. They should be planted aleast three in apart. if you live in and extremely cold area, they should be taken up and stored for spring replanting.

Leaving the gladiulus in the ground over the winter will kill the plant. Dig the plants up for the winter and replant in early spring. Be sure to replant in the same place so they are get used to reblooming. It could also have something to do with the combination of variety and location.

A very likely reason is that they were planted to deep. Another reason could be that they were planted during the wrong season.

You have to dig them up and store them for the winter or they will die from the cold and freeze. Make sure you dry them out before you store them.
