Question by  BobQuestioner (1)

Why doesn't any antenna work with our new TV converter box?

Stations are more than 20 miles away. We have already tried six amplified antennas.

It could be that you are not using the correct style of antenna. There was a new broadcasting standard installed to provide higher definition programming. You should make sure the antenna is designed to receive this new signal.

Sounds like you might simply be out of range from the tv signals. I don't think that digital signals go as far as the old analog signals. Perhaps a roof antenna would help. other then that I would recommend looking into satellite tv.

the new digital signals have a different power rating than the previous analog signals. Since you are a good distance away from that station antenna you are getting a drop off of signal before it gets to your house. You can try raising the antenna to a higher point in the house to attempt to fix this.

Antennas are rapidly becoming out of date, i would suggest either switching to cable or satellite. This will improve your "TV Life". This is a fairly broad questions, there are many different types and brands of what you're looking for, I would suggest visiting your local electronics and consulting with an expert.

They have stopped broadcasting analog television altogether February 2010. If you have a digital converter box already, you might want to return that directly to the manufacturer, or the cable company that has provided it to you. If have already been troubleshooting the antennas, then this is most likely the source of the problem.

It's likely that you are going to need to invest in a satellite or cable channel connection, as signals often degrade over distance.

If you live in a valley or there is a mountain between you and the transmitter, the surrounding landscape is blocking the signal. There's very little you can do.

Recently the FCC disbanded all of the old analog television transmission stations in order to free up those frequency bands for other uses. Television is now transmitted over cable and satellite lines, or special digital transmission stations. Your antennas are most likely tuned for the old analog frequencies and stations and will not work with the new standard.

A lot of people are having trouble with antenna reception with the converter boxes. The solution is to get the antenna up higher or buy an outdoor antenna for the roof. So the new digital signal is bringing back the older style roof top antenna.

Could be using the wrong style of antenna. In this case there has been a new broadcasting standard for higher definition channels. Since the broadcasting system keep changing the analog boxes and converter boxes to more of an higher definition from the original ones they made, I suggest going to electronic store or contact expert to get a advance antenna.
