Given the recent trouble with Toyota you may ask a dealership about the problem, usually it is caused by low pressure in the brake line circuit which operates on fluid. When the fluid runs low so does the pressure and thus the pedal goes to the floor. Low pressure can be caused by bleeders, master cylinders and other brake components.

First check your brake fluid, ensure it is at the proper level. If it is, then the master cylinder is bad. If the fluid leaked out you must find the leak. Check lines, fittings, wheel cylinders, and calipers. If reservoir is dry, you must properly bleed the brakes to remove any air from lines. Air will also cause this problem.

You have a brake fluid leak or air in the system or both. A defective master cylinder can also cause your pedal to go to the floor without any fluid leak.

Well your pedal should never go all the way to the floor. That is very dangerous. I would check your fluid level. If it is fine then you have air in the system. Take it to a shop and have them bleed all the air out of the system. That should firm it back up.
