The Bible contradicts itself because it was not written by one author. It is a collection of myths and legends gathered over many centuries and compiled into one book. It is not a rule book or instruction manual and it is above all not a history book. It is not the infallible word of "God", it is fiction.

The Bible is not a book written by a single author; each "book" was written by someone different, which explains why there are contradictions.
