You could have some stomach acid build-up overnight. That's what happens with me. The best thing is to eat a small, simple breakfast to help neutralize your stomach's acidity. Things like toast or granola bars are good. Milk can also be helpful, as it is a base (the opposite of an acid).

Sometimes you need to have a bm. If you lay in bed for a while this starts the engines going.

Theres a possibility this could be gastritia or a gastric ulcer. Morning painsometimes occurs when the stomach has been empty so theres nothing to absorb the stomach acids during the night, so the stomach becomes aggravated.

If the pain subsides after eating something, particularly yogurt or a bread product you may have acid reflux, or your body clock expected breakfast before you decided to wake up.

There are several causes for this: - you eat too much in the evening making your digestion a real mess; - you have eaten something heavy on the other day; - you are just hungry on a new day starting.

Two likely culprits are gastric reflux or an over-acidified stomach. The symptoms would be worst when you stomach is emptiest, but your body is anticipating food, ie. breakfast.

Stomach pain after waking up could range from incorrect posture while sleeping, morning sickness, gastrointestinal digestion from the night before, a bad mattress, or even something more serious such as a stomach bug. I would suggest going to the doctor if the pain persists.
