Hamsters are crepuscular creatures, they're most active during sunrise and sunset. Most of them tend to be awake at night, but each creature is going to be a little different. Compared to the hamsters I've owned, it's the one that's up all day that's the unusual one. If your hamster wakes up at night and acts normal, he's fine.

This could be normal, or he might be getting old.Watch him closely to make sure he is eating and drinking as much as he usually does and not losing weight.

Depending on age it might be getting old and will definitely be less active. It could also be bored, if there isn't enough objects for it to move around or play in it will rest. Lastly it could be ill.
