Either the IAC motor (Idle Air Control) is bad or the throttle plate and bore is dirty. Also battery may be disconnected as it reset the computer's adaptive strategies, or it can be also the motor's limit can't compensate

The problem that you have described could be caused by several different issues. First, the Idle Air Control valve could be sticking internally. Second, the engine could have a vacuum leak. Third, The Mass Air Flow Sensor could be reading inaccurately, and may have contamination of the MAF elements.

There are several reasons your Ford Taurus stalls when you let off the gas. If it runs fine while you are giving it gas,(no hesitation, missing, etc... ) then the most common problem is your Idle Air Control valve, it gets gummed up over time and eventually fails.

There are a number of reasons that can cause your car to stall. A clogged fuel filter, water in the gas tank, old spark plugs or spark plug wires, or timing could be off. A good tune up could easily take care of the problem.
