Your child may have a chronic sinus infection that needs to be cleared up with some antibiotics. She could also have allergies.

Often excess mucus is caused by an allergic reaction. Is your child allergic to dairy or other substances in their immediate environment? Second-hand cigarette smoke is another common cause.

There's a chance she's got an infection in her tonsils. Also, an ear infection carries itself to a throat infection as well. If you want to know if it's an infection, you can check if your kid gets fevers, in which case a trip to the doctor is necessary. If there's no fever, it could be the flu.

She probably has allergies. The head is stuffy and draining in the throat, which collects and causes mucus. The best advice is to see a doctor before she starts to choke on her own mucus. This present a problem when the child is sleeping. Does the child snore or have problem sleeping.
