It sounds like this young bunny may have a bacterial infection in the leg. it may have ripped the nails off it's self.

Your rabbit may have an abscess or infection if they have swollen-red hind legs. The loss of a nail indicates a loss of circulation. Try to look for any large bumps on the leg (it may feel like a blind eye pimple would on a human. A busted abscess will be visible. Care is needed to keep the rabbit alive.

This is usually a sign of severe infection of the leg and foot. The lost nails can be caused by the infection and vice versa. Your bunny might also have a broken leg. If the leg has swollen badly and the hair has worn off it's time for your bunny to see the vet.
