The THC in the marijuana causes a spike in the body's blood sugar levels. The body's natural defense to this is to crave foods that contain sugar and/or sodium.

Marijuana speeds up your metabolism, so that will obviously increase your appetite. In addition, you are in a completely different state of mind, so your brain isn't functioning as it normally would. Thus, you may not be actually hungry, but your body is telling you that it is due to the state of mind you are in.

It speeds up your blood sugar. It forces every system in your body to work faster. If your blood sugar is working overtime hunger will soon set in.
