Why does a manager need to be self aware?

A manager manages people and has authority over them. Self awareness in part means knowing the effect of one's attitudes and actions on other people. The manager who does not have self awareness will miscommunicate and may do things that have unintended but harmful consequences.

A manager needs to be self aware because he is responsible for himself. A manager must serve as his or her own supervisor, which requires constant evaluation.
