There are many answers to this. Simplest, your dog is teething, or bored. Best answer- your dog needs you to train him what's acceptable. If your dog is past puppyhood, he's bored and needs interaction and play. Dogs can't be left on their own, they require active play and challenges to their intelligence, and training on what they can chew.

There are numerous possible reasons for this. It could be that the dog is a puppy and is in the chewing stage, or the dog could have separation anxiety.

Your dog may be bored and finds that chewing on things occupies his time. I suggest giving the dog vitamins(for dogs). Sometimes they lack a certain vitamin and will chew things to compensate for the lack of nutrition.

Dogs do many things destructive things out of boredom. it could also be because some dogs are neurotic, it is just their nature. Another reason could be they are ill and need to go to the veterinarian. Of course if it is a puppy, they chew because it feels good on their teeth and gums.
