Why do some people hate the Mormons?

People hate what they don't understand. Unfortunately, since some of the Church of Latter Day Saint's doctrines are private until conversion is begun, this creates questions and fear.

Mormons are seen as infidels pretending to be Christians while supposedly mocking central Christian tenets. For example, their belief that God came in human form to impregnate Mary is a direct contradiction to the Virgin Birth. This is an affront to many fundamentalist Christian groups.
