Why do so many child actors seem to have issues as an adult?

Many of the famous child actors of the late 80's and early 90's have not been productive adults, what is the cause of this?

Usually child actors are forced to grow up at a very young age. Many of them turn to drugs, alcohol, and other things to help them. They never get much of a chance to be ca child. It seems that every adult is pressuring them to be perfect at what they do.

Children don't get to be kids once they become an investment for a movie studio. In the entire animal kingdom (humans included) playing is a crucial part of growing up. It teaches Sharing, teamwork, subtlety, rules, and creates social bonds that help improve the way you interact with other people. Child actors miss out on everything. Sometimes failing is ok.

My opinions vary on this topic, but the most popular is that the fame goes to there head. It is very difficult to grow up period, let alone with the fame and fortune of what these kids have. Also, the unknown as to why people are nice to them or not.
