Why do people manipulate other people?

One of the reasons why people manipulate other people is because of insecurities. By manipulating other people, they can build up authority over those people. So whatever flaws or imperfections they have whether physical, financial or personality-wise will not be questioned. It may seem rather vile but it works for them.

Manipulation is a common sign of a psychological need to be superior or in charge. It is common amongst people who have had a rough uncontrollable childhood. It's not okay.
