Earthworms are good for aerating soil. When they burrow near roots, they draw moisture from the air and brings the moisture to the plant. They are also good for creating nutrients for plants through their excrement. Their tunneling also helps reduce weed growth. They also make compost and mulch processing a lot faster.

People sometimes buy earthworms to feed animals they have at home as pets. Some animals that might eat earthworms would be lizards, birds, or snakes. Also they put them in their garden to have them help enrich the soil.
