This should honestly be a relatively easy fix for you. More than likely you simply have a drop or two of oil on the burner itself, which is creating the smoke. Wait for it to cool, clean it thoroughly, and the problem more than likely will be solvedjust that easily.

The smoke can be from many reasons. Could be from the flue not beeing all the way open tot eh fact that the wood that you are trying to burn is still damp. Damp wood can cause a smoke becasue the moisture ahs to burn off.

White smoke could be a sign of moisture in your chimney oil burner. to avoid this make sure that no water could get into the chimney.

You probably spilled a bit of oil on the burner itself, it is smoking. Let the burner cool completely and then clean throughly.
