A common cause is fluid retention, you need to address this with a physical and a good nutritional evaluation. This is a symptom, your body is giving you a heads-up.

It could be water retention, especially if your feet are swollen. It could also be poor blood circulation. The doctor would want to check for congestive heart failure. The remedy could be heart pills and/or water pills. Also, some doctors prescribe special compression stockings to help with the circulation in your legs.

If you're a female, your period could be coming. Oftentimes hands and feet swell when hormones change. You could also be pregnant.

Swollen hands and feet are caused by fluid retention. Fluid retention can be a result of many, many things such as excessive salt intake, sedentary lifestyle, poor circulation, congestive heart failure and adverse medication reactions.
