This can be a sign of sciatica, an irritation of the nerve that leads to your legs. If you have a disc problem in the spine you can experience pressure on one or both sciatic nerves. This pressure can produce abnormal electrical impulses in the nerve that your brain interprets as pain or numbness or tingling in the legs.

Numbness is called by inactivity and lack of blood flow. When you are standing still for a while the blood tends to pool in one area.

Maybe you have varicose veins or pinched nerves on you left leg. It could be that you are putting most of your weight to that leg.

Blood pools in the leg if you are not moving. You may have a varicose vein within the leg which would make the problem even more painful. It is important to keep your legs moving, don't sit or stand for long periods without stretching, non-activity can lead to blood clots.
