Why do I get a bad smell when flossing a crown but not other teeth?

The crown is fairly new.

You will want to have this addressed. There may be infection or fluids building up under the crown, or your gum may be injured in treatment and abscessing.

As the crown is fairly new there must have been some gap left behind between the tooth structure and the crown which leads to food impaction. When this area is flossed a bad smell comes.

If the crown was fixed properly and the tooth area is sealed, there shouldn't be a problem with the crown. Just carry on with brushing, flossing to rid of plaque.

There could be some food that is stuck under your crown feeling. But you might want to check with your dentist to make sure.

Last year I had a loose crown and noticed a bad odor around that area. I figured that since the crown was loose food must be getting caught in it and of course bacteria started to grow, hence flossing was not enough,so I went to my dentist and she recemented the crown, so far no more bad smell.
